Take Off!

Hi Everyone,

Here's a neat photo of one of my crows taking
off -- I currently have five crows that visit
me on a regular basis.

Enjoy!

All the best,
Laurie

p.s. Mmm, note the wedge shaped tail. Do
we have a raven amongst the crows?

I Would Like to Pay More Attention to This Blog

Hi,

Well, when I started this blog, I had high hopes
for its progress. However, I soon found that I
had too many irons in the fire, so to speak. So,
I've done very little with it, unfortunately.

However, I do plan to occasionally make some
posts, including uploading more interesting pics
of crows and other corvids. So, we'll see how
things develop, as time passes.

I still have a group of six crows that visit me
on a regular basis. They are wonderful friends
and we entertain each other. I recently started
to learn the ukulele, so I play it outside for
my crows and other bird and animal friends.

Well, I must go for now. My next post will be
a crow photo.

All the best,
Laurie

Crow Observations

Hi Everyone,

Well, today, I saw a group of seven or eight crows, circling around
and cawing almost continuously. I first noticed this several years
ago, and during the same period of the year. Since that time, I've
observed the same behaviour, on many occasions.

I wonder why they do this at approximately the same time, each year?
So far, I haven't been able to discover a satisfactory answer.

I'll be back soon, with a crow photo.

Best regards,
Laurie

Hi,

In my publication, The Way of the Crow, I talk about a crow's diet.
For instance, I discuss the diet of my pet crow, and talk about his
favourite foods.

At present, I have five crows that visit and hang-out at my place. Last
Thursday, I tossed bits and pieces of food outside for them. I was able
to take this interesting photo, as one of the crows started to fly off
with a morsel of food in its beak.

You'll also notice that a second crow is coming in for a landing. :)

All the best,
Laurie

Crow Landing Photo

Hi,

I took this photo of a crow flying down and landing for food,
a couple of weeks ago. I think it's rather nice.

Enjoy!

Photographing Crows

Hi Everyone,

For the past several months I've been playing a cat and mouse game
with my crow friends. They usually congregate near the oak tree and
field area in front of the kitchen window. As a result, I've been
taking photos from my kitchen window.

It's been quite a game! Excellent sight enable the crows to detect
my presence near the window -- they seem to enjoy flying away just
as I'm about to take a photo.

Now, I simply approach the window, and snap the photos without
trying to frame them in advance. Occasionally, it works well, and
I'm able to capture an interesting crow picture.

I'll be back soon and post a few of those photos.

All the best,
Laurie

Some Crow Observations....

Hi,

We had a sunny, cool Sunday, here on the south shore of Nova
Scotia. I went outside around 10 o'clock this morning and noticed
that my crows were sitting around on the oak and maple trees near
the house. I say "my" crows, not because they are tame, pet crows,
but because they've been coming to my yard and surrounding area
for years now.

At first, there were three crows, and, later, as high as thirteen
flocked together in the area. That was about ten years ago. The
number changes with the years. This year I have five crows that are
regular visitors. Well, more like four crows and a raven. For some
reason, a young raven seems to have been accepted into the group.
Interesting. At least one of the crows has been in the group from
the beginning. I recognize this crow, because it is tamer than the
others. I figure it's fifteen to seventeen years old.

Well, I'm off, now. I hope you are enjoying the blog!

All the best,
Laurie
